An Architects Home

November 16, 2016 4:43 am

One of the many skills an architect must have is to reconcile differing views between two partners in crime. When it came to designing his own home, Richard and Connie had very different ideas and the eventual solution was a compromise of two totally different tastes. The fact they are still happily married testifies to the effectiveness of the design solution!

One thing the home is for certain, and that is Passive Solar designed. Without any inputs from external energy sources, this home stays comfortably warm in winter and cool in summer. Coldest it has ever been on the coldest night of the year is 16 Celcius inside!… . and when the summer temperatures range in the mid thirties, this home stays in the low to mid twenties inside. How is this done? Read all about it in our Energy Efficient Design Page
